A little history…
The Jubilee Year, also known as the ‘Holy Year’, has its roots in the Old Testament with the Law of Moses, which called for liberation through the restoration of the relationship between God and mankind.
Since its inception in 1300, the Jubilee has become a popular event during which everyone is invited to undergo a conversion, to immerse themselves in the infinite mercy of the Father through the experience of forgiveness of sins.

For the Jubilee Year 2025, Pope Francis has chosen ‘Hope does not disappoint’ (Rom 5:5) as his central message.
In our world, which has been turned upside down by numerous conflicts, a pandemic, the climate emergency, and so many other events and phenomena that are beyond our understanding, how can we give concrete meaning to this message? How can we believe in it? This Holy Year invites us to hold on to hope and strengthen ourselves.
A week in Rome to experience the Jubilee for YOUNG PEOPLE
The dicastery for evangelisation, which is organising the Jubilee, is waiting for us to nourish our hope together. For the million young people expected from all over the world, there will be times centred on the Pope (opening Mass and final weekend), and the Jubilee process will be experienced with the other pilgrims (passing through the Holy Door and receiving divine mercy).
