Listening to life

Over the last few days, the sisters gathered at the General Chapter have been invited to listen to reports from the different parts of the Institute. Each country or entity gave an echo of how the sisters live their mission.

In these times of war, unrest and rising nationalism, many aspects of our religious life bear witness to a peaceful and committed cohabitation. It was emphasised on several occasions that religious life carries within it the seeds of another possible world, even if this only manifests itself on a small scale.

Next, the Superior General and the General Councillors, followed by the General Bursar, reported on their work over the past six years. Then the responsible for the formation of novices reported on the two international novitiates, the English-speaking one  in Nairobi, Kenya, and the other French-speaking one, in Cergy, France. They note that some young women who come to us have already had different international experiences, big or small, through an internship or studies abroad, international friendships or they come from countries with different cultures. Living interculturality at the novitiate is a challenge, but not an obstacle.

At the end of the day, in the form of a film, the young generation conveyed their aspirations and questions with a great vitality that energised the assembly.

The 7 th of August was a day of rest, during which it was possible to visit one or other of the communities in the Paris area or to go on short excursions.
